About Me

Hi, I'm Chrissy.

I've spent more than twenty years working alongside students, families, educators, and school leaders to create learning environments where every student has the opportunity to succeed. Along the way I've worn a lot of hats—teacher, researcher, consultant, college instructor, administrator, curriculum designer, grant writer, and advocate—but they've all shared one common purpose: helping people solve problems that improve the lives of young people.

Today I serve as the Director of Special Education at Hanna Academy, where I developed an educational model that blends trauma-informed care with whole-child special education practices. Every day I have the opportunity to collaborate with educators, therapists, families, and community partners to build systems that support students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Why I Started Consulting

Some of my favorite moments in education don't happen during meetings or while writing reports—they happen when someone says, "That makes sense now."

Whether I'm helping a parent understand the IEP process, coaching teachers through a challenging situation, or presenting at a conference, I enjoy making complex topics approachable, practical, and even a little fun. Education is serious work, but learning doesn't have to feel heavy.

My Approach

I believe the best solutions come from listening first. Every school, family, and organization has its own strengths, challenges, and culture, so there is rarely a one-size-fits-all answer. My role is to bring research, experience, and a collaborative mindset to help develop practical solutions that people can actually use.

Outside the Office

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me with a good book, wandering through an independent bookstore, experimenting with quilting, hiking Northern California trails, or spending time with my family. I believe curiosity is one of our greatest strengths, and I'm happiest when I'm learning something new or helping someone else discover it.
